The Bread of Life Cafe in Casey County has always been one of my favorite places to visit for Southern food both on their menu and buffet.  My niece and I recently drove down from Frankfort for lunch and as usual the food was wonderful.  We did not eat breakfast that morning just so we would be extra hungry when we arrived.  Even though it was a weekday the place was busy but they can seat 150 people and we had no trouble getting a table or finding a parking place in the large parking area.  I love the rockers on the front porch that greet you when you arrive if you want to rest before or after a meal.

It is hard not to start shopping as soon as you enter the building with all the wonderful products offered in the gift shop but we decided to eat first and then shop.  The gentleman in the bibbed overalls photo below meets you at the door of the cafe and he is so realistic looking it is hard not to just say, “hello”!  He will definitely require a second look.Next, you can check out the chef and the price of the buffet and get a look at all the delicious food they have to offer.  Believe me, you won’t be disappointed.  The day we were there they had barbecued pork, fish, frog legs and chicken along with fresh sides like corn, fried potatoes, white beans, pinto beans, cornbread, homemade rolls, pineapple cobbler, ice cream and so much more I cannot even remember all the great food.  The salad bar was so fresh with a variety of choices.  Of course, we had sweet tea and your drink comes with the meal! This place makes you want to try everything on the buffet and we tried to do just that.  The people and staff are friendly and you enjoy a down home country setting with a relaxed atmosphere.

We did some shopping before we left.  The gift shop offers everything from UK shirts to a great assortment of candles, candy, baby clothes and even two old crows!

This restaurant experience is definitely worth your time and one you will enjoy coming back to over and over again.   Bread of Life Cafe is  located five miles south of Liberty, Kentucky on Highway 127.   The restaurant also provides a safe, supervised environment for some of their higher functioning handicapped residents of the Galilean Home. It gives them an opportunity to feel they are accomplishing something and gives them spending money. These special residents would not be able to thrive in a normal working environment, which is one of the reasons they began this part of their ministry.
