VISITING THE BREAD OF LIFE CAFE OUTSIDE LIBERTY, KENTUCKY IN CASEY COUNTY

The Bread of Life Cafe in Casey County has always been one of my favorite places to visit for Southern food both on their menu and buffet.  My niece and I recently drove down from Frankfort for lunch and as usual the food was wonderful.  Bread of Life Cafe, Liberty, KentuckyWe did not eat breakfast that morning just so we would be extra hungry when we arrived.  Even though it was a weekday the place was busy but they can seat 150 people and we had no trouble getting a table or finding a parking place in the large parking area.  I love the rockers on the front porch that greet you when you arrive if you want to rest before or after a meal.

We did some shopping before we left.  The gift shop offers everything from UK shirts to a great assortment of candles, candy, baby clothes and even two old crows!UK shirts at Bread of Life

Two Old Crows at Bread of LifeThis restaurant experience is definitely worth your time and one you will enjoy coming back to over and over again.   Bread of Life Cafe is  located five miles south of Liberty, Kentucky on Highway 127.   The restaurant also provides a safe, supervised environment for some of their higher functioning handicapped residents of the Galilean Home. It gives them an opportunity to feel they are accomplishing something and gives them spending money. These special residents would not be able to thrive in a normal working environment, which is one of the reasons they began this part of their ministry. Lake Barkley State Resort Park.. Cadiz, Kentucky

EKLakeBarkley

Lake Barkley State Resort Park located in Cadiz, Kentucky is a wonderful place to visit. My mother and I took a spur of the moment trip to Lake Barkley last year and the tranquil feel of the lodge is so peaceful. We loved the rooms, they have a very unique cabin feel! Everything around this resort is rustic and peaceful. The buffet over looking the lake was the perfect ending to our day.  This is the perfect place to relax and see the amazing things Kentucky State Parks have to offer. I personally feel that Lake Barkley is the prettiest lake in this great state. If you have not been to this area, I highly recommend loading up the family and heading to this beautiful area of Kentucky.

EKDonPedrosStore

Don Pedros Mexican Grill located in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky is a wonderful prize! Mexican Food is a family favorite and this spot doesn’t disappoint. I have frequented this establishment quite a few times because I love their margaritas and their food. Not once have I had a bad experience. The staff greets you with a smile and is very attentive. The bar is adorable and would be a great place to meet for a drink after work.

The prices are very reasonable and they also have 15% off all day on Thursdays! They  have daily appetizer specials as well.  Can’t beat that! We were there last week and it looks as though they are adding a patio. Nothing better than a patio and a cold margarita.

Patio Weather… Charlie Brown’s Restaurant.. Lexington, Kentucky

EKCharlieBrownsPatio
Well it is that time of year where enjoying dinner on a patio is a main priority. We love meeting friends for a drink at Charlie Brown’s on Euclid in Lexington. Their patio, even though it sits in a parking lot has lots of appeal. It is very obvious this is very much a neighborhood bar. Many regulars at this quaint spot, which I very much enjoy. Dogs are also welcome on the patio.

The inside is just as unique with the walls lined with bookshelves and old couches for you to enjoy with family and friends. Be sure and give your eyes a moment to adjust as it is quite dark. However the cozy atmosphere of this bar and restaurant really gives it an eccentric feel. I usually meet friends for just a drink here, however I can’t go without having their hot pepper cheese. I love these little bites of heaven dipped in ranch dressing.
Be sure and check out their website and Facebook page.
