Kentucky became the fifteenth state admitted to the union on June 1, 1792.  A military veteran from Virginia, Isaac Shelby, was elected the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s first governor. Kentucky turns 223 years old today. Happy Birthday to the great state of Kentucky!
